The Mama Kangaroo Mission
Mama Kangaroo believes in the importance of developing a child’s love of reading at a young age. Through rhymes and stories, she strives to teach children meaningful life lessons and values such as self-worth, love, and kindness. With humor, colorful illustrations, and creative rhyme, children can enjoy identifying with the human and animal characters while learning and creating lasting memories. Mama Kangaroo strives to help strengthen the bonds between adult and child, spark the imagination, and motivate young ones to dream big!
Nursery Rhymes for Modern Times is a complete re-imagining of Nursery Rhymes. Many are inspired by the classics, but unlike most traditional rhymes, these are practical, positive, and fun, created to fit into today’s world!
Cassandra Lennox (maiden name Cassie Villano) was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. At age 8, she decided she would “dream big” and become an author. She then wrote her first poem entitled “Try again, Miss Hen” about a determined mother hen and her child. That inspirational poem led to hundreds more over the years, in addition to essays, short stories, quotes, a YA compilation (Hey World, I’m Someone Too!) a YA Novel (Sterling Secrets), an adult novel (The Now) which is close to completion, and of course, the Mama Kangaroo children’s book series. She loves writing different styles and genres and does so as much as possible. Cassandra lives with her husband Joe and four children, Lily, Joey, Cayley and Tyler. In addition to writing and spending time with family, Cassandra loves cooking, gardening, and traveling. She’s a dreamer and an optimist, always looking for the sunshine even during cloudy skies.
